I got to see them live in Philadelphia at Underground Arts on Monday. When we were waiting for the band to come on my husband tweeted this:
.@bekahbuttons has been listening to @londongrammar‘s album for like 3 weeks. They’re fab but hopefully this chills it @undergroundarts

Seeing London Grammar live did NOT disappoint. In fact, it reinforced my love for this band. Here are a few of my thoughts after seeing London Grammar live (plus- a few videos!):
1. Harry Styles look-alike’s (Dot Major) hair is really that big.
I looked to my right when the opening band was playing and saw his hair over all the other people’s heads by the bar.
2. Hannah is TINY.
Like tinier than she looks in pictures. I actually ran into her in the bathroom and had no idea it was her until I heard her British accent. She was also wearing what looked like yoga pants, a work out shirt, a sweatband and a side braid. My kind of performer.
3. Joe Jonas look-alike Dan Rothman is really short
but makes up for it with his huge biceps.
4. The are awkward, artsy kids
They playing their first 3 songs without really breaking to talk, smile or banter. After seeing how hot Hannah was, I kinda expected them to be snotty and full of themselves. They were not. Hannah was delightful- stopping to joke, forgetting what she was about to say and to poke fun of the “Buttons” Dot was playing around with (which were the buttons on the super expensive programming equipment they use for additional sounds, or so my husband tells me) I got the impression these kids grew up as the awkward outsiders. And then they hit college. Or met each other. And adulthood has been awesome to them. Or else they’ve always been that awkwardly cool and life just isn’t fair.
5. Hannah’s voice is incredible live.
But Hannah, you guys! I knew I loved her voice from the album. It has a grittier Florence Welch (Florence and The Machine) sound, but actually didn’t remind me of Florence in person. She didn’t stick to what she does on the album. She got creative at times and was really mesmerizing to watch. Definite girl crush FOR SURE.
I took a fabulous video for you of London Grammar performing “Shyer”
Yeah, then my phone storage was full (SORRY) But husband to the rescue!
London Grammar performing “Wasting my Young Years”
Definitely download their first album If You Wait immediately. Then catch them live if you can! And Remind me not to go out again on Monday night (unless London Grammar comes back to town, of course) I’m still paying for it. #GettingOldYall.
