My heart skipped a beat with the latest Starz Press release I saw sitting in my inbox.
IS THIS IT? DO WE FINALLY HAVE CLAIRE?
I was like:
But my reaction was a little premature:
JOHN DAHL TO DIRECT FIRST TWO EPISODES OF “OUTLANDER”
Dahl has most recently directed episodes of Showtime’s “Dexter,” “Homeland” and “Ray Donovan,” as well as FX’s “Justified,” HBO’s “True Blood,” and AMC’s “Breaking Bad.” He has previously worked with Ronald D. Moore on “Battlestar Galactica” and “Caprica.” His feature film credits include Rounders, You Kill Me and The Last Seduction. He also wrote and directed Red Rocks West.
So no. We don’t have a Claire.
But this first Outlander Director is pretty great news for the show! While I don’t know who John Dahl is personally, the googles tell me he’s either:
A golf instructor in Phoenix, Arizona:
This guy from the 1880s:
Or this guy:
I’m going with Option #3 because: who has time to direct AND golf, I really hope he’s not 120 years old and cowboy hats really seem like the preferred choice of headgear for directors.
What I DO know about John Dahl (because I can read and read the above paragraph about him) is that he’s directed episodes of:
- Dexter- love it
- Homeland- won a ton of awards
- Breaking Bad- everyone I know loves it and I’m too scared to watch it
- Justified- the promos I always see look good
- True Blood- used to be good
He’s like a cable show darling, it seems. And if Starz wants to give Outlander the HBO/Showtime treatment, I’m ALL for it! Looking forward to seeing how John directs the first two episodes!
But until then I’m like:
Every time my phone makes a noise because… the Claire announcement HAS to come soon, right? RIGHT?
What do you think about John Dahl directing the first two episodes of Outlander? What are you doing to wait patiently for the announcement of Claire?
I literally wrote this post for the sole purpose of using the above gif. Both of them actually.
