As much as I get sick of all the reality talent competitions, there is something just flat out addictive about So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). Perhaps I’m partial because I danced throughout high school (thank the internet gods that I have yet to find dance pictures on Facebook and no, that is not a challenge to my old friends), but I think it’s more a combination of the quality dancers and the amazing choreography that makes this show a must-see. It also doesn’t hurt that many, many of the men have some fantastic abs…
The Best in So You Think You can Dance
The Host
And if you are sick of hearing from Mr. Seacrest, please enjoy the refreshing Cat Deeley. She’s british, cheeky, and beautiful; she also cares deeply for the contestants and it shows. It’s also obvious that she genuinely loves her job. I mean, yeah.
The Dancing
Each week the contestants learn dance routines with different choreographers often in a different style than their own. While these routines barely beat out my High School Halftime show dances ::cringes::, they hands down beat any dance you see on Dancing with the Stars. These dances emote and sometimes bring you to tears. They play out situations that happen in your life…
The Co-dependent Deranged ex-Girlfriend (and I’m sure he’s no saint either)
Life’s Unexpected Bollywood Moments ( à la Smash)
Your Spirit Animal is a Hummingbird (and your celebrity spirit animal is Ke$ha)
Power Plays in the board room (Although I prefer how Chloe and Bennett work it out)
You Watch “Beaches” for a Good Cry (and still cry when you watch New Moon)
You come second to his Internet P-rn Addiction Work (You also google, “where is Leona Lewis Now”?)
Get Choked up like when you watch those damn Nicholas Sparks films (except no one has died…yet)
You Work (the Pole) Hard for the Money
See, you don’t have to have a dance background to find some common ground with this great show. We can each connect in our own special way.
Catch the current season of SYTYCD (season 10!) on Fox (we’re still on the auditions, so the perfect time to jump on in).
