I gotta say that doesn’t just look like a good movie, it looks like a GREAT book adaptation. Let’s quickly recap.
- JOCELYN and LUKE (aka Lena Headey and Aidan Turner) – It was so great to see a glimpse of what their storyline will be like! I imagine Luke telling Jocelyn she needs to lighten up on Clary on right after this look.
- And OH YEAH that is Cersei mothertrucking Lannister as Jocelyn and OH YEAH that’s her being a complete Shadowhunting badass in some kind of flashback or something. *Sidenote* Lena Headey is REALLY into projects with incest plotlines, huh?
- That Ravener demon does NOT look cheesy, and neither does Jace when he SMITES him. Bonus points to fx-heavy movies that don’t do it on the cheap!
- The Institute looks AMAZING.
- This is action-packed, yo. You can bring BOYS.
- Robert Sheehan as Simon is so perfect and funny. God bless him.
- Jonathan Rhys-Meyers: You are always scary. Congrats on also being sexy in this one.
- Is that Clary kicking VALENTINE’S ass? #hellyes
- Sezzzzzual tension.
- Radiohead? Hahahahhahahahahahaaaaaa.
- This guy. Can get it.
- This is a trailer that actually gives a good idea of the story: NORMAL GIRL meets PARANORMAL WORLD and tries to find out what happened to her British mum. I feel like this trailer would sell the movie to non-fans.
I don’t know, guys. I thought it was a great trailer and looks like a good movie. Should we throw all caution to the wind and just accept the second-hand embarrassment of the fandom?
Speaking of second-hand embarrassment, the fans were out en masse at Wondercon last week, and the TMI panel was without a doubt one of the most epically cringe-worthy things I’ve ever watched. You can watch it here. Just be forewarned for: overuse of the word “surreal,” a bit of shameless gagging for a sequel from Lily Collins, and a plethora of familiar questions. Watch til the end of Part 2 when Jamie Campbell Bower makes a great paternity joke to a lady with a baby who then kills it with her EPIC AWK. “Thank you. I’d like to introduce you to my son, Jace.” *crickets*
You gotta hand it to them though: they had gifs of the trailer up exactly 2.5 minutes after it was released. Thanks, y’all.
