Last week, while the previews were playing during my Christmas Eve Les Misérables showing, our theatre had a special introduction to this movie trailer by the hot Josh Duhamel.
Quite odd for a trailer to have an introduction (You can find the intro on the FB page for the movie), but I was slightly intrigued until I saw the name Nicholas Sparks flash across the screen. I then had this reaction:
I surprised myself with such a vehement response to seeing the Safe Haven trailer, but thinking about it, I feel my reaction is just. I can easily list out the reasons.
- Someone always dies in his books/movies
- I get invested and SOMEONE DIES
- We are given hope and it is crushed WHEN SOMEONE DIES
- Hot, charming, sweet men are in the films making me want to see it, but then I remember SOMEONE ALWAYS DIES
- Life is already cruel (people die!)
I mean, I read A Walk to Remember and saw the movie. I loved me some Shane West as a sensitive soul. However, I recognize there’s a formula and us ladies fall for it every time. Good lordy, we are so guilty. Why do we put ourselves through it? (The answer is always Shane West or whatever fine looking man is in the lead roll)
Perhaps Safe Haven doesn’t follow the formula and perhaps my love of Josh Duhamel can out weigh my dislike of Julianne Hough partially from Burlesque but mostly from dating Ryan Seacrest (I mean anyone who would date Seacrest kinda gives me the heebie jeebies.) And on the positive, the movie is produced by one of our favorite producers, Wyck Godfrey (REVENGE!!!) – SO THERE IS HOPE (do not crush it!)
Are you a Nicholas Sparks fan or do you see through his evil manipulative heart-string pulling? Will you risk seeing Safe Haven for some hot Josh Duhamel eye candy?
