Recently an internet friend started to read one of my most favorite series and I realized there are some ups and downs to the process. It breaks down into 6 steps.
STEP 1: Preaching
This is where I at first casually bring it up, explain why you should read it, why it is great and how we could chat about it.
I think that I’m passionately convincing you to read…
when really I’m sort of forcing it down your throat.
STEP 2: Anticipation
My friend/sister/accountant/laser hair removal technician has decided to read, but they are reading something else/waiting for library books/waiting for a long weekend, which leaves me hanging in suspense.
STEP 3: Patience
While you said that you would tweet/text/send smoke signals while you are reading I haven’t heard anything yet.
STEP 4: Extreme reactions
Some communication has finally come through and you love/hate it. Sure, you likely said something in between and are only a few chapters in, but to me it reads either love or hate. This gives me feelings.
Step 5: Relief
My dentist/nail tech/friend loved the book in the end and I feel such relief.
STEP 6: Participation
Where I send every blog, article, fan video, fb group to my dog walker/gynocologists/friend to join the crazy. TOTALLY NORMAL.
What are you like when you recommend a book that you love? What is your must read series? (DO NOT SAY OUTLANDER, we already know.)
