SCARY. AS. FUCK.
And now for the European version 😉
Right.
So, sure they have introduced some sort of concept of a plot finally, and sort of explained that the red stuff in the snow is actually vats of blood to keep their ghost/former family members(?!) alive? And maybe, just maybe Lucille is NOT Thomas’ sister, but his prior lover? Or dead sister? Or dead mother? I DON’T KNOW!!!! But I’m pretty sure she’s a ghost (or whatever those things are that dwell below the level you must never go below) from the get-go.
But if we’re being honest, basically two things are going on worth noting…
1. Tom Hiddleston’s Voice
When he says, “I feel as if a link exists between your heart and mine.” This is basically why he was cast for the part, imo. Apart from possibly Benedict Cumberbatch (who ironically was the original casting for this role), I can’t actually think of any other actor who could deliver that line without any essence of cheesiness and make you feel from deep down inside of yourself simultaneously in love and immensely turned on. He’s just perfect.
(I cued it up for you guys to start right when he says it):
Then, as if you weren’t already unable to continue, he goes on to speak a good deal more in this trailer. It’s his normal voice too, which makes it even better. His Loki voice is so specific, but his Sir Thomas Sharpe voice is quite similar to his Thomas William Hiddleston voice, that one simply has to close one’s eyes and imagine. Imagine his soft lips on yours after he finishes speaking, perhaps in the middle of speaking. Good God People! They do not prepare you for these days.
2. Tom Hiddleston’s Pelvic Thrust
Just like… I’ll just put the gifs in, in case you missed his beautiful ass on the first viewing of the trailer. Because I actually did miss it. It goes by fast. But in gif form, it goes on and on and on.
And then this look he is giving as he climbs back up her… I just cannot.
I want to say more, I really do, but I can’t. Fangirl down.
But Really: Is it just me, or is Lucille Already Dead?
I still think Lucille (the sister, or “sister”) is dead from the very beginning. I know I’ve said this, I’m just writing this in pieces and I cannot be coherent at the moment, forgive me.
Clearly Thomas is a psychopathic murderer (or something — maybe they had a baby together and then he killed the baby to cover it up and she killed herself and haunts him? Like a really uncomfortable ghost story version of the Lannister twins?!). There’s the shot of her playing piano and then the ghost thing that looks like her playing piano later on. Plus they did a full body and face cast of Jessica Chastain… And like, clearly she’s the bloody thing hovering. And who plays that one note on the piano when no one is touching it?!
Does she kill Edith? She seems to throw her from the balcony. And they seem to be covering up a body that looks like Edith… but then the funeral sequence involves Edith alive w/ Thomas. OR IS SHE ALIVE?! ARE THEY ALL ACTUALLY DEAD?!!!
This movie is too freaking scary looking for me to watch, which Stephen King sealed with his “This is scary as shit” approval, but I am SO INTRIGUED with this plot. I need to know. I can’t wait for it to come out so that I can read the plot and learn what the heck actually is going on!! Also, there will be more sex gifs once the film is out.
Set Interview Updates
UPDATE: The set interviews DID come out yesterday, and this 28 min one (audio only!) with Collider is particularly great. Tom talks kink, mood boards, and you can tell he’s been in Ontario for enough time to make his accent a little more North American. Also he doesn’t SPOIL anything but he does REVEAL and CLARIFY certain things. So if you want to have no clue at all what’s going on before you see the movie, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK. Tom makes me even more want to see this movie, because it has all the depth I was hoping for… I feel like me and Guillermo would actually get on quite well from a dorky depth of storytelling perspective.
The interview puts into sharp(e) (ehehe) focus all the glorious things about Tom’s passion for films and storytelling. You guys MAY think I like Tom for how hot he is, but I have always first and foremost liked Tom for how complicated and true to life he plays his characters. I love how invested he is in all the levels of minutiae that go on in the movies and plays he is in, the characters he plays. I feel like if Tom and I were on the same DnD campaign, we’d both bring in our characters’ back stories the first meetup and look around like, “Why didn’t anyone else do this?” while we fingered our D20s in anticipatory silence (I feel there is a link between your heart and mine, Tom!) (also, yes, I went there; I used to play a female gnome rogue named Myli). I think, too, I’ve finally figured out what my ideal date would be with Tom: See three films by the same director / in the same genre, possibly on different days/evenings, and then go for a long walk to a quiet craft beer bar and discuss the various elements of the films both individually in a compare/contrast manner.
I’ll leave you with these gorgeous shots:
