Here’s a Reylo fix to help you survive until December 20th

There are 267 days until Christmas. But nobody cares about that, because, more importantly, there are 262 until the next Star Wars movie drops. What was that movie called again? OH WAIT WE DON’T KNOW YET BECAUSE THEY’VE TOLD US LITERALLY NOTHING. No title. No promotional images. Teaser trailer? HAHAHA yeah right, idiot. And according to Make Hamill, this leaked poster is a fake. You’re killing me, Disney. Throw us poor Reylos a bone, won’t you?

Rumor has it that the title and first trailer will debut at Star Wars Celebration, a convention in Chicago running from April 11-15th. Or maybe they’ll try to be clever and release something on Star Wars Day, aka May the 4th. That’s still like…3 years away in Standard Shipper Time. So while we wait…and wait…here’s a Reylo fix to help you survive until  December, when Rey and Kylo’s fate is decided.*

_{*Let’s be honest. There’s pretty much no marketable film scenario in which Kylo Ren comes back from killing his father and gets a HEA with Rey, even if this IS a Disney flick. But that’s why fanfiction exists.}

Last year I confessed that I had never read any fan fiction until seeing The Last Jedi. Readers, I have made up for lost time. I’ve spent days wandering the dark cyber-shelves of Archive of Our Own, but I’ve narrowed it down to two clear favorites.

This has been THE fic in my life for the last year. Incredibly detailed and researched, pulling from all kinds of Star Wars Extended Universe material, it begins after the events of The Force Awakens and sees Kylo and Rey forced into an arranged marriage for the peace of the galaxy. Rey also discovers who her family is, and they are definitely not nobody junk traders from Jakku. It’s intelligent, political slow burn smut and it will SUCK YOU IN. In fact, why don’t you just go ahead and clear your schedule; it’s 265,000+ words and going strong. Also be prepared to obsessively check for new chapters.

And if you end up loving it (hint: YOU WILL), then check out her other work, because it’s all pure gold. There’s modern fics, one shots, and epic two part sagas where Kylo and Rey grow up at the Jedi Academy together. The writing is some of the best I’ve seen in the FF world, and the romance is Smut Level Midnight.*

This little beauty only debuted on Twitter a few weeks ago, but it was a massive hit. A modern AU, the entire fic takes place through texts and emails.

Rey just wants to do her job and wipe the company phones so they can be reprogrammed. A certain mystery man is not helping.

It’s creative, hysterical, includes all your favorite characters and can be read in 20 minutes. The comedy is in the details, so be sure to read contact names, email subject lines…you’ll be glad you did.
