Season 1 of The Defenders was released on Netflix August 18th. If you haven’t seen it, what are you waiting for? It’s the super powered team up die hard Marvel fans have been waiting for since Daredevil premiered in 2015. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, and you haven’t watched Daredevil (2 seasons), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, you best get to it. You will need approximately 52 hours of uninterrupted viewing to catch up. I’ll wait.
Ok, now you’re ready, and here is why you should watch.
Defender on Defender Action
No, not like that, like this.
When powered people fight, shit gets epic! It takes time for each Defender to figure out they have a common goal with these other freaks of nature. Of course in true super hero style, not everyone is going to agree on how stuff should go down.
Chaotically Amazing Fight Scenes
New Villain
That’s right, Sigourney Weaver bitches!
Man Candy
Fall is just around the corner, but Mike Colter, Charlie Cox and Finn Jones will warm up your quickly cooling nights.
Women Who Kick Ass
Jessica Jones is strong, sarcastic and a little self destructive.
Colleen Wing is nobody’s sidekick!
Nurse Claire Temple can beat them down then patch them up.
Officer Misty Knight lays down the law.
We also get to see even more returning favorites, like Foggy, Karen and Trish.
The Return of Madam Gao
Some Marvel villains I find annoying (Kingpin), but Gao I enjoy.
She’s like Yoda, but evil, and not an alien, and female, but powerful, wise, old, and has a cane so the comparison still works.
The only thing I didn’t like about The Defenders is it’s a mere 8 episodes compared to 13 episodes for each individual Defender’s series. Shouldn’t more Defenders mean more episodes?
