A few weeks ago I binged a show on Netflix and I did not tell you. And it had the perfect trifecta of TV amazingness. You know:
British Humour + Hot Guys + Unrequited Love
I know. You’re so mad at me right now that I kept this to myself.
Introducing Lovesick
Lovesick follows the story of Dylan (Johnny Flynn) who is diagnosed with chlamydia and has to contact all his previous sexual partners to let them know he has the disease. Each episode is a flashback to one of the women in Dylan’s life.
Dylan lives with his two best friends, Luke (Daniel Ings) and Evie (Antonia Thomas), and together the three of them navigate through relationships, heartbreak and hilarious scenarios that would only happen to British people.
Wait, what the hell is Scrotal Recall?
The show originally aired in the UK under that name in 2014. It’s a horrible name. Thankfully Netflix changed it to Lovesick. Of course, it’s fun to tell people you watch “Scrotal Recall” and watch their face because obviously, that’s the name of a porn.
How is Robert Pattinson involved?
If you have to ask that question, you won’t understand.
Dylan is played by Johnny Flynn…
Still nothing?
Johnny Flynn was one of the members of the infamous “Brit Pack” which included all Rob Pattinson’s unwashed band of musician friends (a la Bobby Long, Sam Bradley, Marcus Foster and Johnny Flynn) Here, I made you a graphic:

You mentioned hot guy. You don’t mean this one, do you?
No, but we’ll get to hottie.
This is Dylan. The protagonist. The one with Chlamydia. The one searching for love. He might not look like much to look at at first glance, but add in his self-depreciation, his constant search for love and his utter oblivion that it’s staring at him right in his dorky-handsome-little-face, Dylan worms his way awkwardly into your TV-binging heart.
Here he is, ladies
This is Luke. The one you’ll love.
Luke is the bro, the womanizer, the guy your friends tell you to stay away from. But deep down Luke is a good guy and just wants what the rest of us want (a big dinner, a snuggly couch to Netflix and chill on and a nightly orgasm).
In episode 1 you’ll be like “Good-looking guy.” By Episode 5 you’ll say “HELLO LUKE LOVER OF MINE” and Just WAIT until the last scene.
(Oh yeah, he’s in The Crown, too)
What else, you got?
THE MUSIC. THE SETTING (Glasgow) The HUMOUR (I dunno why I’m spelling it the English way). This show has the best of them all.
Only 6 Episodes? Sounds like I will want more.
You will. Especially when you see how it ends. BUT GOOD NEWS. Season 2 airs on Netflix starting 11/17!!!!
