Real Quick – Interview with Stephen Amell at TMNT 2 Philly Wizard World Screening

Firstly, I would like to apologize for including ‘Real Quick’ and Stephen Amell in the same sentence, let alone a headline, but it is a thing here at That’s Normal. We do fly-by selfies, brief breakdowns and short interviews with stars that in the moment seem like an eternity. As a fan of Arrow, Stephen Amell‘s abs, and comic book genre films and tv shows, I jumped on the opportunity to head back to my hometown (I’m a New Yorker now who happens to live across the river in New Jersey — everything’s legal in New Jersey*) and speak to Stephen before the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 2 Screening where he plays Casey Jones.

While I had planned on gushing about Hamilton with Stephen, things on the carpet were quite chaotic and too many dudes took selfies at the other end of the carpet to leave adequate time to talk about the brilliance of Lin-Manuel Miranda. I thought the subject matter perfect since Stephen had just tweeted about it and I have seen it *cough* 5 times.

 

But of course, this isn’t breaking news…at least not to me — I’ve been talking about Hamilton on here since April of last year  (I’ll give everyone a moment for the figurative kicking themselves for not jumping on the bandwagon when I did and buy tickets early on when you didn’t have to mortgage a house to see it.) I knew some of his cast mates saw Hamilton (possibly again) over Network Upfronts, but what if he was just being sarcastic and was hating on all the people CONSTANTLY talk about the show and the music? Getting only one question to ask, I went for what I hope will happen next season on the CW — a budding friendship with Kara, you know Supergirl, and Oliver Queen/Green Arrow.

For those keeping up with our Arrow Coverage (shout out to Marilyn and her awesome recaps) and watching Flash or know that Supergirl is being moved from CBS to the CW, it means that her earth (3) will somehow merge with the earth (1) of Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. In the comics and well, really Justice League cartoon, the Green Arrow and Supergirl have a great friendship. Seeing them play off each other on screen would make for great TV.

I certainly did not expect Stephen Amell to confess to not have seen any episodes yet. Guess he’ll have to start binge watching the season before filming for the next season begins.

  • Direct eye contact melts your insides a little and his eyes are REALLY blue in person

  • My guilt trip of my former Philadelphia hair stylist did not lead to her coloring my hair, but my nails at least look pretty
  • I really should have asked about Hamilton…
