It’s taken me a couple of weeks to get over this news, and I am just now able to parse out my feelings about to you all. In gifs.
JoJo Moyes is writing a sequel to Me Before You.
It’s going to be about Lou, where she is after the end of MBY, and it’s called …. get this … After You.
Hahaahhahah. After You. Like yanno … AFTER WILL. Hahahahah. Ha. Ha.
Here’s a quote from JoJo herself about writing the sequel.
“It has been such a pleasure revisiting Lou and her family, and the Traynors, and confronting them with a whole new set of issues. As ever, they have made me laugh, and cry.”
Just in case you didn’t know, JoJo laughs at readers’ tears.
So this is sure to be a SUPER FEEL GOOD TIME. Like Me Before You was.
It’s not like JoJo is a super-feels-manipulative-genius or anything.
I hadn’t planned to write a sequel to Me Before You. But working on the movie script, and reading the sheer volume of tweets and emails every day asking what Lou did with her life, meant that the characters never left me.
The book is sure to be great, and Will is obviously a presence in the book, but he won’t actually be … yanno … PRESENT.
But I can’t wait.
There is good news at the end of this tunnel of emotions. After You is set for publication September 29th, just before the 2016 release of Me Before You in theaters. And in case you didn’t know it’s starring these gorgeous people (Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke) as Will and Lou.
That won’t be tough to watch AT ALL.
Congrats to JoJo Moyes on writing some of the best contemporary novels out right now. We really cannot wait for Me Before You to hit theaters and to sob uncontrollably while reading After You!
