I’m not one for athletic endeavors. The sportiest thing about me is that my one true love on this planet is Ice Dancer Charlie White. Ironically, it just so happens that ice skating is what I’d like to tie into the wide world of Tom Hiddleston today. As I was watching the coverage of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships at the end of January, I really took notice of something that lots of people have been saying for a while: Johnny Weir is totally Loki.
Yes, this Johnny Weir. Who won the Super Bowl before it even began by wearing this outfit. (I chose this photo because Elizabeth Banks is the best.) He really goes for it, it’s entertaining as hell, and I love it. Much like Loki! I did a Google search and the image results for Tom Hiddleston and Johnny Weir were seemingly endless. So let’s break this down.
How did I not really see this before? I’d heard about them looking alike, and I thought, “Yeah ok, I guess they kind of do.” But I hadn’t really paid enough attention to notice just how much. They even kind of smile the same.
They both have killer taste in headwear.
Rocking the blue…
As well as the green.
If Marvel ever decided to create a younger brother character for Loki, they would be nuts if Johnny Weir wasn’t their first call.
Bonus: Johnny totally knows that people are making this comparison.
Wait! A way better idea just came to me. Johnny totally could have been used as a body double for Tom in a way that would have made everyone love Loki even more. I’m sorely disappointed that Kenneth Branagh didn’t think of it. Take this scene for example:
It ends with Laufey saying, “I accept.” Which is all well and good, but imagine if instead after that last shot, the scene continued with Loki being all, “Sweet! Pleasure doing business with you Laufey! Later!” and then peace out of Jotunhein with style.
Nobody can convince me that wouldn’t have been amazing. Loki has an incredible dramatic flair. He says, “Ta-da!” when he successfully captains the flying boat in Thor 2, so…
Your move, Marvel.
Did you notice the Tom Hiddleston and Johnny Weir connection before? What if they created a male pairs duo, what song would the skate to?
