Anyway, I also find his fiancée to be epic. They are describing her and I’m like, “Yes, this is who Benedict should be marrying.” It just feels right. I’m not even someone who gives a shit about this stuff, guys, and it feels right to me. That’s how right it is.
Also their coloring is really great for photographing together.
I kind of want this wedding to be a bigger deal than the Royal Wedding. To me it totally is (not that I *really* *especially* care about Cumberbatch, as noted like 100 times already), but basically any wedding is a bigger deal to me than the Royal Wedding.
Anyway, Sophie Hunter is my new role model. Like, look at her credentials… (taken from her IMDB page; guys I did like NaNoMo level research for this post!)
Director of Puppets
“She directed the North American tour of the 2013 experimental play The Shackleton Project, which dramatized the almost fatal voyage of Antarctic explorer Ernest Shackleton by having performers on stilts manipulate marionette puppets”
WHO DOES THAT? WHO EVEN THINKS TO DO THAT?!!! I FREAKING LOVE IT. So eerie, which matches Antarctic fatalities perfectly.
Winner of Prestigious Awards
“2007, she received the Samuel Beckett Award for writing and directing the play The Terrific Electric at the Barbican Centre. “
I don’t even know what The Terrific Electric is, but it sounds like an ELO inspired musical. All I know is she won the Samuel Beckett Award!! #Hopes#Dreams#Awesome (I also know that I am seeing her future husband perform likely in the same exact theatre at the Barbican Centre that she directed this play)
Granddaughter of a Sir
“She is a granddaughter of General Sir James Michael Gow GCB, Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath who held the office of Deputy Lieutenant and was equerry to Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester.”
WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?!! Seriously, someone who speaks Great British, please explain wtf this means to me. Also, how does one pronounce the word ‘Gloucester’?
Studier of Romantic languages
“After studying French and Italian at Oxford University, Hunter moved to Paris to study avant-garde theatre for two years at the L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq.”
NORMAL. Who doesn’t go to British ivy league to study romance languages and then head to a French ivy league to study avant-garde theatre for their Masters? Basically, everyone does that! So, so so very normal.
Puppeteerer of Perfection
“She has co-founded the Lacuna Theatre Company, is an artistic director of the Boiler Room, is an associate director at the Broadhurst Theatre, and collaborates on marionette and puppetry production with the Phantom Limb company. “
In case you were planning to get into puppeteering, basically just don’t. You can’t compete with this woman. Just apply to work for her instead. You may even get to meet Cumberbatch that way. Also, can we talk about how marionettes are both a dying artform and exceptionally creepy while still be phenomenal at the same time? Have you seen The Muppet Show episode where the famous marionette artist Bruce Schwartz is the guest star? He is AMAZING. (searches for youtube video)

Opera Star
“She collaborated on opera productions such as Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia, Janacek’s The Cunning Little Vixen (Italy), Mozart’s The Magic Flute (African tour), and Beethoven’s Fidelio.”
Because when you are feeling dried up on puppeteering, why wouldn’t you pursue opera in three different continents?
French-Language Music Performer
“She is a vocalist and collaborated with songwriter Guy Chambers in her French-language music album The Isis Project.”
Just in case you were doubting her absolute prowess as a Renaissance Woman, DOUBT NO MORE! This woman does IT ALL. Hand her a paint brush or a spray can, because she’s got some non-performance art to get down on canvas.
Basically I want to be Sophie Hunter. My life credentials are basically 2 bullet points. She reminds me of my impossibly achieved French ex-boyfriend. OMG. What am I doing with my life, people? I have 7 years to catch up to Sophie. I already have one romance language down, novel published, bought a piano to start working on my musical instrument side, writing a screenplay. I am missing theatre though. And puppeteering. And a really important grandparent (I think?). I will never be Sophie Hunter, but I feel like I need to get moving.
Also, she’s gorgeous. Stunningly gorgeous.
Thank goodness this is happening so that I can enjoy Cumberbatch photos finally.
Sophie Hunter = my new woman crush.
(Hands everyone else tissues.)
Just a gentle reminder that Tom Hiddleston is still not officially engaged, guys…
