To be completely honest, I was pretty skeptical of this product at first, because who wouldn’t be? Things always sound too good to be true, and I am a true cynic when it comes to just about anything. I saw the ad, read some reviews on the net, and decided to go for it.
I AM SO GLAD I DID THIS!
First, you have to answer questions to create your hair profile. This consists of selecting your hair type, hair structure, and scalp moisture, then selecting 5 hair goals. It sounds like a lot, but it’s not…it takes about 45 seconds! Then you get to pick your colors (or dye-free) and scents. For the scents, you can choose essential oils, cucumber mint, grapefruit hibiscus or sandalwood violet. I chose purple shampoo and green conditioner, with a scent of cucumber mint. They also let you choose your fragrance strength, which I LOVE, because I can’t stand strong scents. Then you get to name your formula – it gets printed on your bottles. Because I am a super #basic person, I just put my first name. I know…exciting.
Once you are done with all the fun stuff, you choose what size bottles you want of each. They range from $18 per 8 oz bottle, up to $30 per 16 oz bottle, and you can choose a couple of different combos of bottle sizes. I chose a smaller bottle of shampoo because I don’t use as much of it. Then you choose if you want to purchase it just once, or do a subscription and save 10%. For myself, I thought $42 for what they said should last 2 months was a pretty good deal – if you use professional hair products, you will spend a lot more than that every month on shampoo and conditioner.
It took about a week for me to get my box from them, but it was so worth the wait. It came in a beautiful package that made me feel happy when I opened it. And the scent…y’all it was so nice, I was walking around my house with the lid off making everyone smell it. They weren’t as excited as I was…tacky.
Then came the real test. Would this stuff work like I wanted it to? The answer is yes. Yes it does! I wanted my curls to be more defined, and I wanted it to make my hair less frizzy while regulating moisture (no greasy hair, please!) and to please not make my scalp feel yuck. It did all of these things. The shampoo lathers very little, which is good, and their card in the package said to rinse the conditioner with cold water (that took some getting used to!) You can tell as soon as you use it that it is high quality.
The first day my hair smelled so good that I was sitting at my desk just smelling it rather than doing my work. Don’t worry, I am not the weirdo doing that at work anymore. I only do it at home, and mostly to mess with my kids.
Overall, I give this product a shining 9 stars. It is affordable, it works great and you get to choose what it looks like. I have curly hair, and we have had some really humid days and my hair doesn’t look like a giant mess by the end of the day, as it normally would with other products. Even better: it is paraben-, sulfate-, toxin- and cruelty-free, has free shipping and it’s made in the USA!
The only suggestions I would have for the company are to have a fragrance-free option, and also to use a slightly sturdier bottle design – I am afraid if I drop it, it will break and I will lose all of my beauty goodness down the drain. I am also not sure if what I purchased will last two months like they said it would, but even if it is only a month, it is still very reasonably priced.
Have you tried any products from a social media ad? Are they as good as this?
