Ok, so there’s one sorta catch here… Travel Man is a UK show… so unless you live there or you have access to Channel 4, you gotta watch it on YouTube or find some nefarious way to binge it here in the States. But it’s pretty easy, I just flip on the Roku, open YouTube and like, every episode is there! You gotta find the ones with the best picture and sound, because YouTubers be trying to dodge those copyright lawsuits but we’re glad they do it!
It’s a Travel Show (duh)
From Barcelona to Iceland, Paris and Moscow, Richard and pals spend 48 hours around Europe (and one trip to NYC) eating, touring and breaking snow globes like in this clip from the Vienna episode with fellow IT Crowd alum, Chris O’Dowd.
It’s A Food Show
Richard and his guests try it all… some good stuff and then all the gross stuff the producers can find in each city. A Tinned Food restaurant, Tripe Sammys and Iceland’s shark dish, Hakarl. They (a Viking River Cruise Commercial) say the best way to get to know a country is by it’s food. Richard does that in Travel Man, so we don’t have to eat fermented shark.
It’s a Comedy
One of my fave episodes of Travel Man is Richard’s trip to Helsinki with Paul Rudd wherein they take in a Burger King themed Sauna WITH food and Richard is in a full robe. Richard for whatever reason is super modest, never appearing without clothes, with shirts over board shorts and hats over his hair in the sun.
It’s REALLY Cute
In the Florence episode with Rebel Wilson, they go on a Truffle Hunt with a guide and THE cutest truffle sniffing dog ever. The episode and the dog made me want to book a trip to Florence. Oh and I love truffle. It all seems worth it, right, just throw down a few bucks and hope on a plane to be with that doggie.
There’s a Cat Circus in Moscow

I sneezed just watching this bit on my TV. NO THANK YOU.
You can still ride the world’s THIRD Oldest Rollercoaster in Copenhagen
With Noel Fielding none the less… and he wears go-go boots and a baby blue coat the entire episode. It is a dream.
Richard Has the Best Suitcase
While waiting for our Tea Time reservation at Harrod’s in October (travel humble brag), I was browsing the travel department and found Richard’s suitcase! It’s from the London Trunk Company and that shit is NOT cheap, but dang, it’s stylish.
It has the best tag line ever
“We’re here, but should we have come?”
Should we have come indeed? A question we’ve all asked ourselves three days into a family vacation far, far from home. Richard Ayoade shows us, instead, how fun travel can be. You know if you have a production company footing the bill, your funny celeb friends tag along and your job is to… travel.
Watch Travel Man on Channel 4 in the UK… or you know on YouTube for the rest of us. (Sorry Channel 4, give us real options over here! Also, while you’re reading this, get some REAL press/promo photos for this show. Geez.)
