I’m a nerd about a lot of things, you probably know this!
But the trailer for Netflix’s original series: Marvel’s Daredevil came out this week, one month before the 13 episodes will be available on Netflix. What am I doing April 10th? Totally binge watching!
Trailer
So, first, here’s the trailer:
Hell’s Kitchen
First of all, when I lived in NYC 15 years ago, I lived in Hell’s Kitchen. yep… 55th and 10th. It’s not as bad now as it was then.
Charlie Cox
Charlie Cox plays Matthew “Matt” Murdock and this post isn’t going to be a let’s compare Charlie to Ben Affleck. But let’s do that just in case anyone was wondering…
I love Charlie – Stardust, hello!
According to my friend: He looks like Kit Harrington with straightened hair… they could be brothers.
Kingpin
So when I saw the trailer, I thought isn’t that the guy from Under the Dome or Breaking Bad?
Nope, not Dean Norris, it’s Vincent D’Onofrio! I had no idea. and I’m not comparing him to the beloved Michael Clarke Duncan either.
But with the series, it looks like we’ll get to see Daredevil develop with out it being crammed into one sub-par movie. No Elektra, no Bullseye for now.
You may not remember what happened in that movie 12 years ago… so quick recap.
Matt Murdock is a lawyer with a disability, he’s blind. He was blinded in a radioactive accident that, as superpowers often do, enhanced other abilities. He has sonar hearing. Like a radar in his head.
As it goes with all superheroes, his father is murdered and Matt vows to seek justice and clean up this city by becoming a vigilante and tries to save this city…
Netflix doesn’t disapoint
With the success of House of Cards, Orange is the New Black and other original series, I’m glad Netflix is crossing over into the superhero world.
The trailer gives me the feel of the dark, gritty, comic-book world that seems to get scrubbed for the masses on TV shows or mass-consumption movies. Don’t get me wrong I love those. but, Daredevil is dark. I’m excited to see this turn. Note: Rated TV-MA
Also listed as a credit under Charlie Cox is The Defenders. He’s listed as Daredevil for 8 episodes. I’m not sure if this is Season 2 of Daredevil already in production or what.
So are you going to watch?
