OH MANNNNNN We’ve missed you Boozy Book Club! It’s felt like forever (Kinda was: May was our last Live Chat) and we’ve had a busy summer with LOTS of Talking Outlander. But we were back this week with the WHOLE official crew, plus a few of you who stayed up to hang out with us via Twitter.
We discussed our September books: Grave Witch (the Alex Craft Series) and Ms Marvel this week & a few things to note:
- Since we last met Bekah has started drinking Grown Up Wine
- Tiffany does NOT like Urban Fantasy
- Nikki thinks all the convos about “Death” and liking “Death” sound a bittttt weird to an outsider who didn’t read the book
- Bekah’s neck vein makes another surprise appearance
- Beth likes to CRITIQUE fluffy books like this and Bekah is all “I WANT THE CLICHE GUY YOU GUYS”
- Comic Books are fun! (okay, that’s all I have because Bekah is writing this & Bekah didn’t read Ms. Marvel)
Watch Boozy Book Club #11
So To Recap we give Grave Witch 4/5 Wine Bottles
October Books
This month we’re SO excited about our books. First up we have:
I’ll Give you the Sun by Jandy Nelson
Jude and her twin brother, Noah, are incredibly close. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude cliff-dives and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and dramatic ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as someone else—an even more unpredictable new force in her life. The early years are Noah’s story to tell. The later years are Jude’s. What the twins don’t realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.
with the optional read Rat Queens
Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they’re in the business of killing all gods’ creatures for profit.
It’s also a darkly comedic fantasy series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Hobbit Thief. This modern spin on an old school genre is a violent monster-killing epic that is like Buffy meets Tank Girl in a Lord of the Rings world on crack!
A new ongoing series from PETER PANZERFAUST’s KURTIS J. WIEBE and featuring a gorgeous incentive cover by SAGA’s FIONA STAPLES!
