Dr. Mindy Lahiri, She’s just like me! The Mindy Project

in on 03/25/13 by Jamie 17 Comments

The Mindy Project is hands down my favorite new show of this TV season. There are obviously the laughs, but it’s more than just pure comedy; Dr. Mindy Lahiri is just like me! She’s in her 30s, single, no kids, and has romantic ideas based on TV and movies that no relationship could ever fulfill. I’m hooked!

You’ve got a friend

Best friends are definitely a tier. Glad that we’re both on the same page. Within that tier, you have friends that you wish you could marry, ya know, if you could be down with that and all.

Zumba is the enemy

Do you somehow always miss the “introductory” session? Or even when you raise your hand to say you are new and the instructor says “we’ll go slow” you still somehow develop clubbed feet? This happens to me in any choreographed exercise class and it happens to Mindy too. Years of dance classes do nothing to help stop group fitness intimidation.

Self Image

No one would ever accuse me of having a flat ass, nor ever call me a skinny bitch. EVER. Dr. Mindy is confident about her curves. Amen.

The ‘M’ Word

My dreams of marrying rich and summering in the south of France never happened.  Even if I look to romantic comedies, as Dr. Mindy often does for life advice, I don’t have any guy friends that I’m cluelessly in love with. However, I do have a couple close guy friends from college that are still single and I know WAY too much about them to ever see them as more than good buddies. TRUST.

So not cool

Sometimes I like to pretend to be down with the kids. More often than not, I quote old TV shows that are ANCIENT (or say things like “down with the kids”). Me quoting Friends is the equivalent to someone in their late 40s quoting Three’s Company to me. When the hell did that happen? Somewhat related, I cannot even sing-along pretend rap. An old roommate once told me that I rapped like an 80-year-old white man when I attempted to sing along to Shoop.

Lazy Life Philosophies

I fall asleep within 5 minutes of any attempts at meditation.  So I’d be down for Eat, Sleep, Love.
